Cream Cheese frosting is easy to make! The family's favorite frosting has an ideal balance of sweetness and tanginess.

How to Make the Perfect Cream Cheese Frosting

Start with butter: Unsalted butter at room temperature. Unsalted butter gives you complete control of the overall flavor of your recipe

Cream Cheese: Softened for easy mixing and blending.

Vanilla Extract: Vanilla is the preferred extract for frosting, but almond extract can be substituted, just reduce to 1/2 tsp.

Powdered Sugar: 2-3 cups of powdered sugar provide the perfect creamy frosting, but if you want a stiffer frosting,  place the bowl in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before using it.

  • Using a hand mixer or stand-up mixer, place cream cheese in a bowl and mix until smooth. Add butter a couple tablespoons at a time until nice and creamy.
  • Add vanilla extract, then powdered sugar one cup at a time until the consistency you desire.
That's it!  The Perfect Cream Cheese Frosting
